On Saturday evening, May 7th, the L’Enfant Society hosted its 3rd Annual Ball on the Mall in Washington, D.C. The premier annual ball raises awareness and resources for ongoing National Mall restoration efforts. The sold-out event included Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.). The L’Enfant Society, which hosts several high-profile events each year, supports the Trust for the National Mall’s campaign to restore and improve America’s most visited national park. On Thursday, May 5th, the Trust for the National Mall and U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Ken Salazar officially launched this national fundraising campaign, a $350 million effort to rehabilitate the park.

The 2011 Ball on the Mall will raise $500,000 for National Mall restoration efforts. Since Jan. 1, the Trust has raised more than $3.1 million, twice the organization’s overall 2010 fundraising total. The L’Enfant Society has raised nearly $1 million in its first two years and recruited more than 275 members.
