ENTERTAINMENT NEWS – Venus Williams returns with record-breaking win at age 45
At 45 years old, tennis legend Venus Williams secured a historic win at the DC Open on Tuesday, defeating 23-year-old Peyton Stearns 6–3, 6–4. The victory marks Williams’ first singles win in nearly two years and makes her the oldest woman to win a WTA tour-level singles match since Martina Navratilova in 2004.
Once listed as “inactive” after undergoing uterine fibroid surgery, Williams returned to roaring crowds in Washington, D.C., unleashing vintage 110+ mph aces and powerful returns. The seven-time Grand Slam singles champion now advances to face No. 5 seed Magdalena Frech in the second round.
