Actor Richard Chamberlain, a 1960s television star known for his role in the series Dr. Kildare and was known as “king of the miniseries, has died at 90. Chamberlain died Saturday in Hawaii after complications following a stroke, according to his publicist Harlan Boll.

His lifelong partner Martin Rabett said, “Our beloved Richard is with the angels now. He is free and soaring to those loved ones before us. Rabbett went on to say, “How blessed were we to have known such an amazing and loving soul. Love never dies. And our love is under his wings lifting him to his next great adventure.

Chamberlain was a heartthrob for many teen girls in the 1960s, but in 2003, he publicly acknowledged his sexuality and publicly came out as gay. He made this statement in his autobiography “Shattered Love. In the 70s and 80s, Chamberlain rose in popularity with his roles in Centennial in 1978 and Shogun in 1980.
