Investigation reveals U.S. knowledge about Doctors Without Borders site before bombing

Investigations into a United States airstrike of a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Afghanistan revealed that the U.S. did have initial knowledge of the hospital site. Officials state that the organization informed the government and that the hospital “was in the military database” of sites including mosques and schools supposedly safe from airstrikes. However, officials also say that that information was not passed on to correct military personnel. “There is nothing to indicate the people who made the ultimate decision to pull the trigger knew it was a hospital,” one of the officials said.
