Wine shop to close after 50 years in business
International Wine and Beverage will be closing their doors forever sometime before the summer, after 50 years in business. Leo and Mary Beek opened the shop back in 1964 selling typewriters initially. Mary Beek stated that her son Bob, made the transition from selling the long obsolete machines to wine, beer and cigars about 18 years ago. Leo has since passed away, and the Beek family has decided to close shop after getting rid of the rest of their remaining inventory. The Cherrydale Veterinary Clinic next door will be expanding into its space. Dr. Robert Brown and his wife, Donna have owned the clinic since 1972. Mary Beek also said she was pleased that another local, family business was moving in to the space.
