Friday’s first Muslim service at the Washington National Cathedral was briefly interrupted when one woman stood and heckled the proceedings. The middle-aged woman shouted “America was founded on Christian principles. . . . Leave our church alone!” before being quickly escorted out. The ceremony was private with heavy security. The event, the first of its kind at the cathedral, was intended to strengthen Christian-Muslim relations and was broadcast live by several Arabic-language news stations. The service otherwise ran smoothly.
