An FBI agent out of the Washington office is being investigated for alleged misconduct with drug and gun evidence for possible effects on prior criminal cases. Matthew Lowry, 33, has been suspended during the investigation after he was allegedly found in a car with heroin and two guns in late September. No criminal charges have been filed against the agent. The investigation, conducted by the Philadelphia office to avoid a conflict of interest, is focused on determining if there was any relevant tampering of evidence in the cases Lowry worked. One of the five federal judges considering those cases demanded faster handover of information on the investigation, and ordered the appearance of the top prosecutor in the case to appear in court Monday morning with the information.
