City honors civil rights activist with street

A street in Hopewell is being renamed in honor of civil rights activist, Reverend Curt Harris. City Council is going to be renaming Terminal Street the Rev. C.W. Harris Street. Harris was not only a civil rights activist, but also a member of city council for 26 years. The council considered a proposal including Curtis’ late wife’s name, Ruth, in the renaming of the street. Ruth Harris, an advocate of her husband’s activism, died in May 2011.
