Mayor-elect Muriel Bowser appointed her two deputy mayors and a deputy city administrator Monday. The announcement revealed that Brenda Donald will be the deputy mayor for human services, and Jennifer Niles will be deputy mayor for education. Donald previously served under former mayor Anthony Williams, and Niles founded a high-achieving charter school. Kevin Donahue will serve as deputy city administrator under Rashad Young, moving from his current position with the U.S. General Services administration. Donahue intends to reinstate the CapStat performance management program in his new capacity. Bowser may still choose deputy mayors for economic development, public safety and for the area east of the Anacostia River.
