Thirty cars in Southeast D.C. vandalized
Tires on thirty cars were slashed by unknown assailant(s) in a Southeast D.C. neighborhood early Sunday morning. According to the Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANC), it had happened between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. ANC Commissioner Sandra Seegars stated that one of her own tires had been slashed. Most of the cars on the street had two tires slashed, and one family had two tires slashed on all three of their cars. The tire slashing took place in the 3200/3300 blocks of 9th Place, 10th Place, 11th Place, 12th Street, and the 1000 and 1100 blocks of Congress Street SE. Police suspect that the tires were slashed overnight, with the first slashing as early as 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The incidents had occurred in an area near St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, and just a couple of blocks from the Congress Heights Metro station. Police have no suspects, but are still investigating.
