Wells adds name to mayoral election

Ward 6 Council member Tommy Wells announced his candidacy as mayor on Saturday. Wells says he will not take checks from lobbyists or corporations; he only wishes to receive the support from personal venues.

The rally was held at Starburst Plaza, a meeting point between the 5th, 6th, and 7th wards. Wells noted that it symbolizes his desire to bring the city together.

Ward 4 Council member Muriel Bowser, a democrat like wells, announced her candidacy in March. The primary will be held in April of next year.
