Venezuelan beauty queen shot

The 29-year-old Miss Venezuela and soap opera star, Monica Spear, was shot to death on the side of the road on Monday. After their car broke down in Venezuela’s Caraboo state, Spear and her ex-husband, Thomas Henry Berry, were gunned down after armed robbers opened fire, killing both Spear and Berry. The couple’s 5-year-old daughter survived the shooting after being shot in the leg.

Spear was Miss Venezuela in 2004 and competed the following year in the Miss Universe pageant. Venezuela is one of the world’s most violent countries. One person is killed every 21 minutes.
