Photos of Tsarnaev released amid Rolling Stone controversy

A police photographer released photographs on Thursday of Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s capture as a part of the backlash against Rolling Stone. The magazine was criticized on Wednesday for placing the 19-year-old on the cover of their newest issue. The new photos, taken by Massachusetts State Police Sergeant Sean Murphy, show Tsarnaev covered in blood as he left the boat where police had surrounded him.

The photographs were released online by Boston Magazine. “This guy is evil,” Murphy said in a statement released alongside the photos. “This is the real Boston bomber. Not someone fluffed and buffed for the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.” According to Boston Magazine’s editor in chief John Wolfson, more photographs will be released in their September issue.
