Officer in D.C. accused of imposing threats on Michelle Obama

An officer in Washington, D.C., who worked as a motorcycle escort for the White House and other officials, has been placed in administrative duty after he reportedly made threatening comments about First Lady Michelle Obama, The Washington Post reported on Thursday. The D.C. officer was overheard making comments on Wednesday as several officers from the Special Operations Division discussed threats against the First Family, citing unidentified police officials who were not authorized to discuss details of the case, according to the Post. According to a report in the Post’s online edition, the officer supposedly said he would shoot Mrs. Obama and then use his phone to retrieve a picture of the firearm he said he would use.

“We received an allegation that inappropriate comments were made. We are currently investigating the nature of those comments,” D.C. police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said when asked about the report. In the case of a threat against a member of the First Family, the Secret Service normally interviews participants and witnesses, and then makes an assessment on how to proceed with further action.
