Nelson Mandela in serious but stable condition

Nelson Mandela is reported to be in serious but stable condition as he remains in the hospital for treatment for a lung infection. A government spokesman, Mac Maharaj, said Mandela’s condition is serious. He also said the former president was “able to breathe on his own” and was able to communicate with his family.

Early on Saturday, Mandela was taken to a private hospital in Pretoria, South Africa. He has had numerous health scares throughout the last few months.
