Microsoft releases Windows 8

A new update for Windows phones may make them more competitive in the smartphone market. Windows Phone 8 will be out later in the month, and will feature quad-core processors and large, 1080 high-definition screens. There has been a surge in large-screened phones, because they can fit more icons and apps on the screen. Windows Phone 8 will allow for another column of tiles to be added to the home screen.  Windows 8 also adds a multitasking interface, which, like iOS 7, allows for faster app switching.

Other features of the update include better wireless connection in hotspots and automatic detection while driving, which allows the phone to send automatic responses to text messages. Microsoft says though that there will be some features that won’t change, and users may not notice too much of a difference.
