MARYLAND NEWS – Woman identified in fatal Potomac River kayak accident

Ella Mills has been identified as the woman who died on Sunday while kayaking on the Potomac River. She was a junior international student from Dublin, Ireland studying at Columbia University. Mills was visiting the area with her university’s kayaking club.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials say Mills was pinned underneath a rock when people came to help her. She died after first responders arrived despite receiving aid from multiple Samaritans and first responders.
