Hershey to seek open Senate seat

Del. Steve Hershey says he will seek appointment to a vacant state Senate seat on the Eastern Shore.

The Republican of Queen Anne’s County made the announcement in a news release on Friday.

Hershey will be seeking the seat that is now open due to Sen. E.J. Pipkin’s resignation last week.

Del. Michael Smigiel is also seeking the appointment.

The legislative district includes Caroline, Cecil, Kent and Queen Anne’s counties.
