First woman superintendent to head Howard County schools

Renee Foose has been assigned as the first woman to lead Maryland’s Howard County school district. According to the Baltimore Sun, Foose will take over as superintendent of the 50,000 student body school district on Monday. She will be replacing Sydney Cousin, who is retiring. Foose signed a four-year contract that will pay her $250,000 annually.

Howard County’s first woman superintendent has been an educator for nearly 15 years and most recently served as deputy superintendent for Baltimore County Public Schools. Foose said she plans to concentrate on building confidence in the Howard County school system.
