Congress approves DC interim bill
A bill that would allow the D.C. mayor to appoint an interim CFO was passed in the House and the Senate. It has now been given to President Obama to sign. The Senate passed the bill by voice vote and the House passed it earlier this week.
Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton proposed the bill to ensure there would never be a vacancy in office. The city cannot budget or spend money without the CFO’s approval.
Current CFO Natwar Ghandi plans to retire in June. Mayor Vincent Gray is in the process of establishing a search committee to find a new CFO.
