Columbia Pike unstable after water main break

Columbia Pike is closed between Gordon Street and Malibu Circle due to a large water main break in the area. The closure began at 10:30 a.m., and repairs are expected to take a full day to complete, say Fairfax County officials. Reports say the road is unstable and “buckling” from the water. Alternate routes are necessary, and police are directing traffic away from the spot.
