Trump says Scalia may have been murdered

A conspiracy theory claiming that Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia’s death was not of natural causes, but rather murder, has recently surfaced. Leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has not confirmed he believes the conspiracy; however, he did state that he believes it is very much a possibility. In a recent interview Trump was asked about his thoughts of a possible Supreme Court murder, and he claimed, “They say they found a pillow on his face, which is a pretty unusual place to find a pillow.” When asked if he was in firm belief that Scalia’s death was a result of foul play, he stated, “I can’t give you an answer.”

Federal judge orders Apple to unlock San Bernardino shooter’s phone

A federal judge ordered Apple Inc. to provide software to the Justice Department to aid the unlocking of one of the San Bernardino shooter’s phones. The judge and department have claimed that the phone contains crucial evidence regarding the plotting of the mass murder. This order reflects recent tensions between Silicon Valley and the federal government regarding privacy and security. Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook has said the company plans to oppose the judge’s order claiming, “It was an unprecedented step which threatens the security of our customers.”

Walter Reed Army National Medical Center to be redeveloped

The Walter Reed Army National Medical Center has been dormant on a larger property for several years. The District of Columbia was recently able to purchase a 66-acre portion of the former hospital for redevelopment. The redevelopment of the large area purchased by Washington is expected to commence slowly, with the entire project spanning 23 years. About half of the land is expected to go to the U.S. Department of State for use as an international chancery for embassies. The rest of the land is expected to be used for an expansion of Howard University, green space, a supermarket, housing developments and a charter school.

VIRGINIA

Mother indicted after son’s remains found 10-years later in car

Tonya Slaton of Richmond was recently charged with the murder of her son over 10-years ago. Her son, Quincy Jamar Davis, was never reported missing. However, human remains found in Slaton’s car in June were identified as those of her son. Davis was about 14 or 15 at the time of his murder.

MARYLAND

Man charged with child pornography of 17 victims

An investigation into a Prince George County school volunteer, Deonte Carraway, has found numerous alleged victims of child pornography. Thus far, 17 victims have surfaced since Carraway had first been charged. Police are currently searching for more victims, and Prince George County is looking to find ways to aid the many victims. Authorities are unsure of whether Carraway committed these acts on his own and how he financed the large operation.
