Charlie Sheen to play U.S. president

Actor Charlie Sheen is expected to play the president of the United States in the upcoming sequel to 2010’s “Machete.” Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez announced the casting on his Twitter account on Thursday writing, “Who better?” Sheen, 46, retweeted the message while adding, “My Fellow Americans!” Sheen, famous for his roles in films like “Wall Street” and shows like “Two and a Half Men,” isn’t the only member of his family to play the nation’s chief executive. The actor’s father, Martin Sheen, played the role of U.S. president Jed Bartlet on the seven-season serial drama “The West Wing.”

According to IMDB, the cast of “Machete” also includes Mel Gibson, Amber Heard, Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara and Zoe Saldana and returns from Danny Trejo and Michelle Rodriguez. The film is scheduled to release in 2013.
