Capitals, Rangers headed to final game in Game 7

The Washington Capitals and New York Rangers are heading to Game 7 after the Capitals finished victoriously on Wednesday night. Rookie goalie Braden Holtby made 30 saves for his team, and the Capitals recovered, beating the top-seeded Rangers 2-1 to tie the Eastern Conference semifinal series at three games for both teams. “We’re resilient,” said Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner. “We have that thick skin. We know when to battle back when we need to and have to.”

The Capitals will meet the Rangers at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday night to determine who will face the New Jersey Devils in the conference finals. The District hasn’t been that far since 1998, and the Rangers haven’t since 1997. Rangers captain Ryan Callahan said, “That’s what we play for all year: home-ice advantage. And I think home-ice advantage helps when it’s that Game 7. We have to go in there, be ready to go, feed off the crowd and get a win.”
