Bears spotted in Gaithersburg

Montgomery County authorities say they have been receiving multiple calls about bear sightings in residential areas. They have gotten bear reports on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

On Tuesday, a bear was spotted near Middlebrook Road and Frederick Road. On Wednesday, calls claimed that bears were located near Quince Orchard Road and Darnestown Road. On Thursday, reports of bear sightings came from Twelve Oaks Drive and Clopper Road.

Authorities state that black bear sightings are not uncommon during the summer. They also recommend that if residents do encounter a bear, do not feed it or approach it. Instead, scare it off by making loud noises.
