Airline crash not caused by mechanical problem

According to the head of the National Transportation Safety Board, investigators have discovered a mechanical issue was not the reason Asiana Flight 214 crashed in San Francisco on Saturday. The interest of the investigation is now on the pilots. Deborah Hersman, NTSB Chairman, said investigators found the pilots didn’t notice their approach was lower and slower than it needed to be.

She said, “There is no mention of speed until about nine seconds before impact when they’re at 100 feet.” Investigators also discovered the airliner had no problems in any critical systems, even though the plane was badly damaged in the crash.
