Aide to Michele Bachmann charged with theft

A top aide to Minnesota Republican congresswoman Michele Bachmann was arrested and charged with thefts that occurred in a House office building.

According to the U.S. Capitol Police, 37-year-old Javier Sanchez was arrested last Thursday.

Sanchez was a senior legislative assistant for Bachmann. Her office is located in the Rayburn office building, where the thefts took place.

Sanchez is being charged with the theft of money and goods worth less than $1,000 in value. A spokesperson for Bachmann says Sanchez is no longer employed in the office as of Friday.
