VIRGINIA NEWS – Mother of 6-year-old who shot teacher sentenced to 21 months in prison

Deja Taylor has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for illegally using marijuana while owning a firearm. Taylor’s six-year-old son took her gun to his school in January and shot his teacher, Abby Zwerner. 

Taylor still faces more time behind bars with another sentencing for felony child neglect. Zwerner is suing the school system for $40 million over negligence claims. “I feel as if I’ve lost my purpose – I loved children. I contend daily with deep emotional scars,” said Zwerner.
