Thousands of dead fish litter Virginia’s shores

Approximately 75,000 dead fish have washed up on Virginia’s beaches, littering Savage Neck Dunes Natural Area Preserve and Cape Charles. The fish began washing ashore over the weekend after a net tore during harvesting by Omega Protein on October 7. The company has organized a cleanup crew that has cleaned up much of the dead fish at their own cost; however, thousands of carcasses still remain.
