Va. General Assembly rejects governor’s judge selection

The Republican-led General Assembly in Virginia say that they are rejecting Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe’s selection for the Virginia Supreme Court. The General Assembly reserves the right to make its own appointment. Republicans in the Assembly say that they rejected McAuliffe’s selection because he did not consult the Republican leaders well enough before he made his choice.
