Off-duty cop accidentally shot 14-year-old
A Baltimore County Police officer accidentally shot a 14-year-old boy while he was off-duty Monday night. The incident had happened while him another officer were investigating a reported burglary. They were working security at a Woodlawn apartment complex, when they responded immediately to a burglary report. As they were investigating an apartment unit, one of the officers spotted someone walking out onto a balcony. The officer had already been pointing his gun in that direction, and it accidentally discharged. The bullet hit a 14-year-old boy, whose injures were not serious. The officer has been placed on administrative status. The department stated that its homicide unit is currently investigating the shooting, and will turn over the final results to the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office to consider whether charges are justified.
