Health officials in Maine have obtained a temporary court order to restrict Kaci Hickox’s movements. Hickox, a nurse who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Sierra Leone, has been the focus of national attention in what may be a “test case” on the balance of public health and personal freedom, reports the Washington Post. Hickox is now commanded to have a three-feet buffer around her at all times and to avoid public areas until a further decision later Friday. The health worker continues to test negative for Ebola and report no symptoms. She has left her home twice since returning to Maine, once Wednesday to speak to reporters and once Thursday for a bike ride with her boyfriend, followed by state troopers.
