Woman charged in Medicaid scheme

As tensions surrounding health care rapidly sweep the nation, a Virginia woman is brought to justice in a Medicaid scam.

According to Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, 54-year-old Delores F. Thomas received $1.5 million from Medicaid under false claims.

The mental health service provider claimed that 66 children at her New Season Clinical Services facility were in need of the funding for mental health treatments.

Thomas agreed to pay back the $1.5 million to the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services, according to Cuccinelli.

Her fraudulence could result in a 10 year prison sentence.
