Egypt investigates Morsi
Egyptian investigators will be examining allegations that President Mohammed Morsi escaped from prison in 2011. According to the reports, Morsi was assisted in his escape by Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, during the revolution in 2011. An official, who chose to remain anonymous, spoke to the media on Thursday confirming that Hesham Barakat, Chief Prosecutor, was given testimony which will become the base of the investigation.
Hamas has already denied taking part in the jailbreak, which also released over 30 other Muslim Brotherhood leaders. Morsi was removed from office by the Egyptian military on July 3.
