Tony Hawk donating 1st skateboard to Smithsonian
Professional Skateboarder Tony Hawk will be donating his first skateboard to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
Some other skateboarding contributors include Rodney Mullen and Cindy Whitehead. They will be gathering Friday and Saturday at the museum in celebration of the skateboarding culture. Saturday is when Hawk will officially donate his first skateboard.
The Innoskate Skateboarding Festival will be hosted by the Smithsonian’s Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation. The museum will be showing skateboarding films and will hold panel discussions as well as skate sessions on a ramp built outside the museum.
Hawk will be donating his 1975 Bahne skateboard that was handed down to him by his older brother.
