Apple’s new security system still leaves information in danger

According to a new report, Apple’s new security system isn’t completely successful in keeping away hackers. Earlier this year, Apple changed their security system into a “two-factor authentication,” which is already used by companies like Facebook and Google. The system needs not only a password, but also a set of data, which can sometimes be sent as a string of numbers in a text message.

The flaw was discovered by the security software company, ElcomSoft, who released their findings in a blog post. They clarify that the system only protects users with their purchases, receiving customer support and managing their account. Hackers can still access information by using the user’s Apple ID and password to log into the user’s iCloud account. ElcomSoft encouraged Apple to use the same type of two-factor security on iCloud backups as well.
