Woods tied with Garcia

Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia are currently apart of a three-way tie for the lead at The Players Championship. Both Woods and Garcia as well as David Lingmerth are at 11 under 205, one shot clear of Henrik Stenson, Ryan Palmer and Casey Wittenberg.

Garcia didn’t mind sharing his opinion about his pairing with woods, “I’m not going to lie, he’s not my favorite guy to play with, he’s not the nicest guy on tour.” Woods assumed he would play in a threesome considering the rain delay, but Woods said it didn’t matter who he played with on Sunday.

Public tension arose during the storm delay on Saturday, when Garcia played his second shot from the par-5 second hole. Garcia bogeyed the hole, which he claimed was due in part to cheers from fans gathered around Woods in the trees reacting to his use of a 5-wood for a high-risk shot. Woods claimed Garcia did not have his facts straight and said he was told Garcia had already hit, “And then I hear his comments afterwards, and not real surprising that he’s complaining about something.” Woods said on Saturday.

Through the tension, The Players Championship offers a $1.71 million reward to the winner along with a three-year exemption from the Masters and British open, and a five-year exemption from the PGA tour.
