EBay monitors Boston Marathon medals
EBay says it is monitoring its auction selections so that people are not able to personally profit from items sold from the Boston Marathon. Runners’ medals are currently for sale on the site, and all proceeds collected must go directly to charity.
Jonathan Resnick, an accountant in southern California, purchased a medal for sale on Ebay. His winning bid will be donated to The American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts through Ebay’s program of charitable giving.
Ebay’s policy strictly forbids listings that “graphically portray, glorify, or attempt to profit from human tragedy or suffering”.
