Murder trial for German socialite postponed

A judge has indefinitely postponed the murder trial for journalist and socialite, Viola Drath. Reasons stem from the defendant’s ill health and risk of death. Reports claim that defendant and husband of the socialite, Albrecht Muth, has begun starving himself and was hospitalized due to his inability to sit or stand on his own.

The trial was scheduled to begin on Monday, but both prosecutors and defense lawyers argued against any continuation. Muth was charged with the first-degree murder of his 91-year-old wife in August 2011. He has pleaded not guilty.
