Police officer and child injured in car crash

On Monday night, a car crash on Interstate 66 caused life-threatening injuries to a Fairfax County police officer and one child. At around 10:15 p.m. the officer was making a traffic stop when he was struck by another moving vehicle on the interstate. The child was later found in the moving vehicle and both parties were taken to the hospital.
