Long lines were ubiquitous at early-voting centers on Saturday as DC residents rushed to cast their ballots before the onset of Hurricane Sandy, but to some, the prospect of a long wait was off-putting–especially when there was plenty else to get done in preparation for the storm. Because weather conditions also forced early-voting locations to close Monday and Tuesday, officials have decided to extend hours of operation from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Centers reopened Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
