Co-host Robin Roberts is planning on taking medical leave from “Good Morning America.” The 51-year-old ABC morning show anchor will leave the show at the end of August. She will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant to treat MDS or myelodsyplastic syndrome—a blood and bone marrow disease she was diagnosed with earlier this year.

“It’s fascinating-slash-scary how to prepare yourself for something like this,” Roberts said. “I do go through moments of fatigue … [but] the run that we’ve had has truly energized me … It’s pretty good medicine, I gotta say, to be taking!”

During her absence, Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer and Katie Couric will each serve as guest hosts.
