President Obama requests action on student loan rates

On Thursday President Barack Obama will push Congress to prevent interest rates on student loans from doubling on July 1. If Congress fails to take action on the critical measure, interest rates on new student loans will double from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent.

President Obama will meet with senior advisers and Vice President Joe Biden, prior to making his remarks at the White House in Washington, D.C.
