Maryland lawmakers aim for all passengers to buckle up

In Maryland, two lawmakers are aiming for legislation that would require every person riding in a vehicle to wear a seat belt, this includes back seat passengers. While every driver must buckle up, currently, back seat passengers in Maryland and Virginia are not required to wear a seat belt.

Sam Auroa, D-Montgomery County, and C.T. Wilson, D-Charles County, both Maryland delegates, report their bill would save 30 lives each year in Maryland, prevent hundreds of injuries, and raise more than $30 million in revenue in the years to come. The District requires all passengers in a vehicle to wear a seat belt.
