Huntsman to meet with McDonnell as part of campaign

Former Utah governor and Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman will be in Richmond Wednesday for a private fundraiser. Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell plans to stop by to meet with Huntsman. A McDonnell spokesman said, “The governor looks forward to welcoming Governor Huntsman to Virginia, and [Huntsman is] running a positive, ideas-driven campaign.” The state is expected to play an important role in the 2012 race.

McDonnell had not yet said if he will endorse a candidate, though his job approval ratings make him a valuable supporter to a campaign. McDonnell has spoken with Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Texas Governor Rick Perry often.
