7 dead, 3 injured at small Christian university in Oakland, Calif.
A man identified as the suspect in a shooting spree has been detained by police after killing at least seven people and injuring three at Oikos University, a Christian school in Oakland, Calif., on Monday. Police identified the suspect as One L. Goh, 43, a Korean national, believed as a resident of Oakland. Goh surrendered to police at a Safeway supermarket in Alameda, Calif., Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan told reporters.
Jordan spoke to CNN on Tuesday morning and reported Goh was upset at the school for dismissing him and killed his seven victims, six women and one man, execution style. Goh walked into a classroom, lined up students against a wall, and shot them one by one. “This was a calculated, cold-blooded execution in the classroom.” Jordan told CNN’s “Early Start.” Goh ended his rampage by driving off in a victim’s car. Jordan said, “This happened within minutes. We don’t think the victims had any opportunity to resist, any opportunity to surrender.” Goh was reportedly in search of a female administrator. According to police, Goh entered the small university at 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning and fired multiple shots. The SWAT teams arrived shortly after the shooting and attempted to get the area secure, while locating victims and trying to get them to safety as they searched for the shooter. Goh was taken into custody around 11:30 a.m. at a mall in Alameda, about five miles from the school. Police believed Goh was the sole shooter, but they were not ruling out the possibility of more suspects, ABC station KGO-TV in San Francisco reported.
