3 suspects in rape of American woman arrested in India

Three men were arrested by Indian police on Thursday for allegedly gang raping an American woman visiting a Hindu temple. All three of the men are in their early twenties. Three other men had been arrested by police the day before, but the victim declared they were not the men who assaulted her.

According to authorities, the crime occurred at 1 a.m. on Tuesday when the 31-year-old victim left the site of the Vashishth Temple. Unable to find a taxi to take her to her hotel, she secured a ride with three men, who robbed and raped her, after driving to a wooded area. She is currently under the protection of the police.
