Longtime ESPN anchor Stuart Scott lost his battle with cancer. He was 49 years old. He was with the network for 22 years, and best known for his catchphrase “Boo-Yah!” He accepted the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYs back in July. He dedicated the award to his two teenage daughters Taelor and Sydni. Scott attended high school in North Carolina in the early 80s and graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1987.

He then worked at three television stations in the South before finally landing the gig at ESPN in 1993. He anchored SportsCenter at 11:00 p.m., and covered countless major events for the network such as the Super Bowl and NBA Finals. He also interviewed Barack Obama and engaged in a televised game of one-on-one with him.  He was first diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and underwent years of chemotherapy and treatments. He is survived by his parents, O. Ray and Jacqueline Scott; siblings, Stephen Scott, Synthia Kearney and Susan Scott; his daughters, Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15; and girlfriend, Kristin Spodobalski.
