Portugal reopens Madeleine McCann’s investigation

Madeline McCann was 3-years-old when she disappeared in Portugal while on vacation with her family in 2007. Years later, and with many questions still unanswered, authorities in Portugal are reopening her case. London’s Metropolitan Police say that the case is being looked at again, because new pieces of information surfaced after an internal review of the original investigation.

The Metropolitan Police have also started a new inquiry, and released new suspect drawings last week, in addition to a televised appeal for help from the public. Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley of the Metropolitan Police says that the two police forces “have a shared determination to do everything possible to discover what happened to Madeleine.”

The young girl’s parents are pleased that more attention is being brought to Madeleine’s disappearance. “We hope that this will finally lead to her being found and to the discovery of whoever is responsible for this crime,” they said. “We once again urge any member of the public who may have information relating to Madeleine’s abduction to contact the police in Portugal or the UK.”
