Extremists attack kills 52 in northeastern Nigeria

According to officials, Islamic extremists killed 52 people and razed more than 300 homes in an explosive attack in a village in Nigeria’s northeast region. Attackers planted several explosives at a market around Kawuri village on Sunday. Officials who evacuated wounded victims confirmed 52 deaths. Northeastern Nigeria has been under a military state of emergency since May. Security officials say the Islamic terrorist network Boko Haram, who have killed thousands over the past four years in Nigeria’s northeast, are behind the attack.
